° Conference “ Saigon Open City Exhibition  and Art Community” 1st and 2nd  December 2005.

The conference took place for two days  in Saigon with the participation of comtemporary art community representatives in Saigon, Hue , Hanoi and abroad. An opening conference has marked the  development of   Vietnam   contemporary art  in the last 10 years: the hallmarks and experiences, admitted straight the inadequate infrastructure, legal system , education… It aimed to promote the development of contemporary art in Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City. There were many interesting ideas discussed, and there were some lively debates throughout the conference. Mr Mai Chi was the coordinator of the conference, who is co-founder and editor of the art and cultural online magazine Talawas. One of the main points of the conference was that Saigon: Open City project has been introduced officially. It is expected to be a sequence of interesting art events. Co-curator Rirkrit Tiravanija and Gridthiya Gaweewong ( Thailand ) came to attend the conference.
