Doan Than was born in 1958, he is an artist and major in the air force. Doan Than graduated from the Fine Arts University Hanoi 1986, he is a member of of the Fine Arts Association Vietnam. Doan Than won severel prices, including the Third price of Hanoi Exhibition, 1983, Third price of National Exhibition « Military and Revolution », 1998-2000, Second price of Exhibition « Dien Bien Phu Victory », 2004.

“I am an artist of the Vietnamese Air Force. In addition to being in charge of arranging celebrations, anniversaries, etc., I went with the troops to draw scenes from their life and collect materials. I started in 1979, during the South West offensive. I have been in many places: Da Nang, Bien Hoa, Cam ranh, Sai Gon. I drew Air Force personnel preparing for battle and repairing the fighter planes. I was among those who lived on the thin line between life and death. Many of my comrades are no longer alive.”
