Kim Tien

(Born in 1952, lives and works in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)

Kim Tien was involved in fine arts as propaganda collaborating artist since the age of 12 in 1964 until she moved to study at Hanoi Fine Arts University in 1970s. After graduation, she worked in several schools and departments which are constantly related to fine arts, such as Saigon Fine Arts University, Department of fine arts administrating and Fine Arts Museum. Kim Tien was retired in 2005, later has been more  contemplated with her passion for arts.

In her long career, Kim Tien learnt by herself different painting techniques as well as experienced frequent arduous scenes of the battlefield. Nonetheless, her artworks don’t express the cruelty in warfare instead, they convey her poetic sentiment on female guerrillas among splendid jungle landscape. She uses silk, lacquer or oil to create paintings. Recently Kim Tien has also discovered other contemporary topics besides her usual theme about Vietnam War.

Her artworks have been exhibited in both fine arts and army museums, and in some Vietnam War paintings exhibitions in USA, Australia, Singapore, France.
