Rirkrit Tiravanija

Rirkrit Tiravanija is a highly successful, internationally itinerant artist. Born in Buenos Airesin 1961 and raised in Thailand, Ethiopiaand Canada. Tiravanija pursued his art education at a number of prestigious establishments: The Whitney Independent Studies Program, New York The School of the Art Institute of Chicago The Banff Center School of Fine Arts, Banff, Canada The Ontario College of Art, Toronto, Canada. His work has been exhibited across Europe, Asia, North and South America. Rirkrit had solo exhibitions in major art institutions e.g. GBE (Modern) New York, Secession, Vienna, Portikus, Frankfurt, Wexner Center for the Arts, Ohio, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, PA, MoMa, New York,  Kunsthalle, Basel, Randolph Street Gallery, Chicago and group exhibitions e.g. Venice Biennale, Venice(1993), MOCA, LA (2001), Istanbul Biennale, Istanbul (2001), Witt de With, Rotterdam (1999), Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin, Berlin(1997), Lyon Biennale, Lyon, (1995, 2005), Kwangju Biennale, Kwangju (1995).  Recently he received the Hugo Boss award 2004, and had retrospective at Guggenheim Museum, NY. He was a co-curator of ‘Utopia Station’ at the Venice Biennale in 2003. Currently Tiravanija teaches at Columbia University, New York. He now lives between New Yorkalso spending time in Thailand.

Gridthiya Gaweewong

Gridthiya Gaweewong is an independent curator and a co-founder of Project 304, a non-site / non profit art organization based in Bangkok.  She received her MAAA (Arts Administration), from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL in 1996.Her curatorial interests center around multidisciplinary cross-cultural art projects by local and international artists. Gridthiya has curate various local and international exhibitions including Hidden Agenda (1996), Alien(gener)ation  (2000 – 2003 in Bangkok, Khonkaen and Chiangmai), Under Construction, Tokyo Opera City Gallery and Japan Foundation, Forum Japan (2003), Bangkok Experimental film festival (1997- 2002), Temporary Insanity by Pinaree Sanpitak, Art Center, Jim Thompson Center for Arts and Textile, Bangkok Nothing, a retrospective by Rirkrit Tiravanija and Kamin Lertchaiprasert, Chiangmai University Art Museum  - + - negative plus negative, Earl Lu Gallery, Singapore, Bangkok – Bangkok, an exchange art exhibition between Bangkok and La Capella, Barcelona and Die Markten, Brussels, as part of the KunstFestivalDesArts, Belgium. Her recent projects including with an exhibition, “Politics of Fun”, an exhibition of artists from Southeast Asia, as a co-curator with Ong Keng Sen, at House of the World Cultures, Berlin, and Bangkok Democrazy, the 4th Bangkok Experimental Film Festival, December 2005. Currently she lives and works in Bangkok.
